ITALIAN GAS MASKS USELESS. (Rec. November 6. 7.15 p.m.) Amsterdam, November 5. The Gorizia correspondent of the Budapest paper "Pesti Ilirlap" etates that the Austrians attacked tho city with a new poison gas, the invention of a Viennese professor, and far more terrible and deadly than any that has hitherto boon used in tho war. Tho Italian gas masks aro of no avail to counteract tho effects.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE GERMAN PROPAGANDISTS IN ITALY QUESTION IN BRITISH PARLIAMENT. London, November 5. In connection with the German propaganda, which allegedly was a strong factor in tho rccent happenings on the Italian front, Mr. Yates, in tho House of Commons, asked what steps the Government was talcing to deny the /Histrian and German falsehoods regarding Britain, which had been disseminated amongst the Italian troops. Mr. J. I. Macphereon (Under-Secretary for War) replied that the Italian military authorities had beon asked to supply oopies of the propaganda, but he could not promise to disclose what steps it was intended to take.—fieuter.
