THE MURDERED MISSIONARY
FATE OP THE REV. ROBERT HALL. (Rec. November 0, 10 p.m.) Brisbane, November 6. Tho Rev. Robert Hall was murdered on tho night of October 18, while touring Mornington Island, Tho natives chopped his head off while he was asleep. The horses returned to the mission, and al6o an old gin, who was wearing Hall's blood-stained singlet. After Owens liad been wounded, tho two women kept the besieging natives at bay until faithful natives from the mission boat relieved them.—Press Association. (It was reported yesterday that a general rising of the natives has occurred at Mornington Island, in tho Gulf of Carpentaria. It was roported that the Presbyterian mission was besieged for ten days. The Rov. Robert nail was shot dead. His assistant, Walter Owens, was wounded, but escaped in the mission boat with tho wives and children, and reached Burketown. Mr. Hall was a New Zealandor.]
