His Excellency the Governor-General and suite will be present at tie performance of "Look Who's Here" at the Opera House this evening. Sir James Allen wilMeave for a tour of the North Island to-day, via New Plymouth, Auckland, and Rotorua. He will bo absent from Wellington, for about ten days. Tho Hon. W. D. S. MocDouald will arrive in Wellington - from the south this morning. The Rev. Mr. Hall, the viotim of the Mornington Island rising (roported by cablegram yesterday), was'a New Zealander —Press Assn. Mr. R. W, Dalton, His Majesty's Trade Commission for New Zealand, arrived in Auckland on Saturday, He intends to remain in Auckland for three or four weeks for the purpose of familiarising himself with business conditions there, and getting into touch with as many Auckland firms as possible. Sergeant Leonard John Lloyd, of Auckland, who has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, left New Zealand' with tho Fifteenth Reinforcements, and has been serving on the Western front since early in the present year. Sergeant Lloyd came to New Zealand from Llandudno as a boy, and wa» for some years farming in the Taranaki and Wanganui districts. About Ave years prior enlisting he retired and lived privately at Onehungo,, where his wife and two daughters now reside.
Mr. Thomas Orr, an old resident of Wellington North, died on Monday. Born in County Armagh, Ireland, in 1835, the late Mr. Orr served his time with Harknd and Wolff, shipbuilders, and came to the Dominion in the year 1864. He landed at Lyttelton, but two or three Tears after came to Wellington, whero he followed tho occupation of building contractor until about twenty years ago, when he retired. Mr. and Mrs. Orr, the latter of whom survives her husband, wero the first oouplo to be married in St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral. This was in'lßG6. The late Mr. Orr, who resided at 18 Featherston Terrace, is survived by four daughters—Mrs. A. Osborne and Mrs. Arthur Greening, of Wellington; .Mrs. S. Clendon, Lower Hutt; and -Mrs. C. E. Archibald, Dunedin—and two sons—Mr. Thomas Orr, of Johannesburg, and Mr. Jonn Orr, late of Macky, Logan and Co., Auckland, who is now serving in France as a signaller. Tho interment, which will take place at Karori Cemetery tomorrow morning, will be of a private nature. The service at the graveside will be conducted by the Rev. J. Reed Glasson.
Rifleman James Douglas Gordon-Glass-ford, who was killed in action on October 12, was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Gordon-Glaesford, of tho Arepaopae. This young 6ofdior was bom in Inglowood, Taranaki, 21 years ago, and went to Levin with his parents five years ago. He and his brothers were engaged on their father's farm when tho war broke out, and it was only mado possiblo for them to go 'by the splendid spirit and patriotism ot their two sisters who undertook to carry on tho work while their brothers were awayi _ One brother enlisted in the first battalion ofi the Kifle Brigade, and was wounded seme time ago. Private J. D. Gordon-Glass-ford enlisted in the fourth battalion of tho samo corps when ho was ninctoen. Ho was a young man of fine appearance and physiquo, while a choorful and likeable nature endeared him to a wide circlo of friends and acquaintances.
The death occurred yesterday morning of a pioneer of tho early days in the person of Mr. John Haggerty, of 30 May Street, Wellington. Tho Into Mr. Haggerty, who was about 80 years of age, took up land in Ohariu Valley 6omo forty-four years ago, but retired, and was living in Wellington. Ho was a'fine typo of settler, and was a popular figure wherever ho wont. His wife pre-dccca6cd him some yoars ago, but there are four of a family loft, two sons and two daughters. Mr. Jack Haggerty is chairman of tho Makarn County Council, and Mr. Donald Haggerty resides at tho Hutt. The daughters are Mrs. A. M. Brooks and Mrs. A. Whittaker, both of Wellington.

Mr. Finn Koran, who somo time sto was appointed His Norwegian Majesty's reprosontatiTe for the Commonwealth, and Madams Korcn have arrived in MeS bourne. Mr. Korea is tho first Norwegian Consul-General, who has been sent out to Australia from Norway which is due to a measure which Hip Government, has taken in order to promote the commercial relations between the two countries. Mr. Korcn previously tr a numljer of important posts in the Norwegian Foreign Service, r.ud he now comes from Canada, whero lie rq,resented the Norwegian Government for some 1 years. urmV'j M'Eldowney, of tho fiim of MTildowncy Bros., warehousemen (who have given up business), is now on his way out to New Zealand. 110 has been, actin? as buyer for tho firm in England for the past three years. An old colonist. Mr. J. J. Kissel, died recently in Christchurch. Mr. G. D. Greenwood, of Teviotdale, has roccivod advice that his only daughter, Mrs. Ramsay, has been awarded tho French Medaille a'Honneur for her valuable work in tho French, military hospitals. Mrs. Ramsay is the wife of Major Ramsav, who left on active service with ■ "dorian contingent of the First Australian Expeditionary Force. Mr. P. Cunliffe, who is going into camp next week, was given a send-off on Monday ovening by the staff of the Cambridge Hotol and friends. Mr. M'Crcdio presented tho guost with a purse of sovereigns, and tho proprietor gave him a wristlet watch. A very enjoyable musical evening was spent. Mr. Thomas R. Wilton, an old nnd respected settlor of tho Wairarapa, died in the Pahiatua Hospital on Tuesday morning after a short illness. Tho deceased sold his farm at To Ran£iuon.va somo timo back, and purchased a farm in the Pahiatua district. Two of his sons were recently killed at the front.
