KINDERGARTEN FAIR

TO BE OPENED TO-MORROW. Tho Kindergarten movement deserves the hearty support of Wellington citizens because of the invaluable work it is doing for the very young. For months past large bodies of willing workers hare boeu preparing for a monster special effort to raise funds for a suitable headquarters building for the institution, to he\ erected on land already acquired and paid for. Other centres have such buildings, and Wellington, if not to lag behind, must have suitable premises immediately. On Friday in the Town Hall a monster fair is to bo opened by Her Excellency the Countess of Liverpool, in the presence of prominent citizens. Great care has been devoted to provide amusement and profit for all who attend. For the children .there will be a Punch and Judy 6how, magic fish pond, Christmas tree, sand-shy, modern skittles, etc., and adults will probably find pleasure also in these side-shows. In the afternoon the pupils will bo eeen at work, there will be musical items, and in the evening a programme is to be provided by well-known entertainers, particulars of which will appear in Friday's issue, Cooking competitions, which Miss Una Carter will judge, have been arranged. Judging tents for prizes, purprise packets with good rewards, goods of every description at moderate prices, refreshments of all kinds for a, small charge, and many other inducements are offered lo the public to attend the fair. When the public realise the good cbject in view, it is felt that the large Town Hall will bo too eniall to accommodate all who wish to be present. Gifts of money may be sent to the secretary, 159 Molesworth Street, and will be duly acknowledged. Plans of the building to lie have been prepared, and particulars will be sent on receipt of a request addressed as above.
