The bullock -which formed the subject of a piessing competition nt tho Carterton snow was weighed on Saturday, and turned tho scales at HSfijlb. Tour guessed tho correct weight ly a quarter of a pouind, and the draw off resulted as follows:- % Playle, Carterton, 1; W. Howard Booth, Carrington, 2; James Sneli, Carterton, 3; Mrs. Carson, Lansdowne, 1. Tho sheep, three in nuinber, weighed 23131b. Tho nearest- guess was 2321b., three tieing, tho draw off resulting: as under :—T. Ingley, Morrison's Bush, 1; J. M'Kcnzie, To Wliiti, 2; J. M'Kensrie, Woodlands, 3.
The Highland bullock used in tho guessing competition was offered at auction in pieces at Carterton on Saturday evening, and realised .£4l. The head of the bullock after keen competition was purchased by Mr. Hugh Douglas, of Masterton, for .Csl. The whole of tho proceeds, including guessing competition, go io the Wairarapa Hutment Fund, and tho grand total will reach <)vor J6ICO. A cake sold on Saturday night realised .£!), and a hammock mado by a returned soldier £h, tho proceeds beiug for the eaiuo purpose.
