SECOND DIVISION BALLOT
FIRST 5000 BEING DRAWN. The first ballot of Second Division men was begun yesterday. The men concern* ed are married men without children (Class A). There are 15,292 men in tha and 5000 names are to he drawn in this ballot. It is intended to gazette the names on November 6. The men drawn will not ho required to mobilise before next March. The drawing should be completed to-day. The ballot is being' drawn by the Government Statistician.' Mr. ,S. E. McCarthy, S.M., is supervising, and the Mayor of Wellington is in attendance. The Gazette containing the names of the first 5000 married men will also contain the names of 1500 First Division men—men who have recently reached military age, etc.
