LAST MAN ON A FARM
QUESTION AND EXPLANATION. "Seeing that lie ha 3 given instructions to the Military Service Boards not to take the last man off the farm, will he give instructions, that all this class of men in camp or at the front will be sent home again." This was a question asted without notice bv Mr. Witty of the Minister of Defence in the House, of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Sir James Allen', in reply, Baid he wished to remove a misapprehension. No instructions had been given to Military Service' Boards; merely the policy of the Government had been given. The Government had no right to give. instructions. If ■ a man in camp was required on a farm ho had the right to apply to a Military Service Board, which could givo him leave to go back to his farm, and very often this was done.
