ABOARD SHIP WITHOUT A PERMIT
SHIP'S , FIREMAN IMPRISONED,
By Telegraph—Press Association. ' Greymouth, October 25. A sliip's fireman named William Palmer, charged under tho War Regulations with going aboard a certain vessel without tho necessary permit, was to-day sentenced to one month's imprisonment by a Justice of the Peace. Accused, agc.inst whom lliero was no evidence of suspicious conduct, slated that hn Had gone abonrd to look for work, and was found in the men's quarters by the captain. 110 was ordered to leave tho ship. Palmer left hiß ship at Greymouth a few days ago, and sought work ashore, but failed owing to lack of his registration card, which ho hndsincc procured. The Bench <lid not believe accused had not known the regulations, seeing that they wero very severe in Australia, whoro accused last signed on.
