GOpD HEALTH SANATORIA. Questions about' gaol administration wore askod of the Minister ,f Justice in the House of Representatives yesterday. . 1 . Mr. G. Witty asked whether it was the intention of the Minister to bring down legislation this session to provide for the classification of prisoners. The Hon. J. A. Hanan said he had made certain representations to Cabinet on this subject, and he hoped lo bo in a position to give an answer to the ■juestion a little later. Mr. P. C. Webb asked the Minister whether in the event ot his being unable to bring dowh legislation he would have a Commission appointed to make a public inquiry into prison administration. One of his complaints against gaol control was: "A good lot of bread is wasted that might bo used for puddings and that sort of thing. (Laughter.) The hon. member for Wairau laughs. He would appreciate a little bit of bread pudding if he was there.f: Mr. Hunan said that the scale of diet had been improved during the last fivo months. "Some gentlemen," he said, "are coming out much heavier than they went in. (Laughter.) No institution is turning out healthier men than, my institutions are. They are coming nut healthier, and heavier, and, I hop®, better men." He went on to say that ho did not want any Commission to do any work for him in connection with his Department. He would make all the inquiries necessary, and ho would do what he could to improve the present system on rational lines. He did not propose, to ipako gaol as attractive as a club.
