PUBLIC SERVICE APPEAL

OFFICER TRANSFERRED. Tho Public Potitions Committee of the House of Representatives presented its report yesterday on the petition of the Now Zealand Post and Telegrapn Officers' Association of Wellington) prayino- for an inquiry into tho circumstances surrounding the transfer of C. B._ Scott from Hamilton to Auckland, which is alleged to have been done in an arbitrary manner.

The committeo reports that in its opinion all serious allegations made against ,C. E. Scott have been disproved, that compiunications from one Government Department to another should be sent through the heads of each Department; that tho unqualified right of transferring officers must remain with the. head of each Department; that no further inquiry is necessary. The debate was adjourned. ■
