* ON A PERMANENT BASIS. At tho meeting of the Harbour Boar» last evening Mr. J. W. M'Ewan said that Mr. J, G. Cobbo (who had been called away owing to the arrival of news of the death at tho front of his son) had intended to ask a question. as to the advisability of putting all waterside labour in Wellington on a permanent footing. Something of the same thing had occurred to him, and ho begged to give notice of motion on the followig lines I** - "That tlio Shipowners' Federation and, tho Waterside Workers' Union be each invited to a!sj°' n t five representatives to meet five representatives of the board to consider the following proposals :—(1) That the Harbour Board control all labour employer on the waterfront; (2) that all such labour be on a permanent basis."
