BRITAIN AND THE POPE'S OVERTURES STATEMENT BY MR; BALFOUR London, October 22. Speaking in the House of Commons, Sir. A. J. Balfour, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, said that there seemed to be no reason at present for anything but nn acknowledgment by Britain of the Pope's peace proposals. Mr. W. King asked: "Is that not a change of policy, in view of iJio statement that the Allies aro considering a joint reply P" Mr. Balfour did not reply.—Router.
