RIFLE SHOOTING
THE PETONE CLUB. The annual meeting of the ketone Defence Club was held at Lower Hutt on Saturday, President Flilws presiding over a fair attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. New raembors were elected, and 'arrangements made for the coming season's shooting. It was decided. tot Offer munition prizes for weekly competitions, and that tho value of all other prizes and trophies, with the exception of the championship shield and cups, shall be paid into some patriotic fund. Tho secretaiy, in his report, pointed out that at least twenty-fivo of the club's members had now enlisted, including last year's deputy-president, Mr. J. Carter, and the secretary of tho Rifle Club Union, Mr. A. Jackson. The election of officers resulted in the re-election of most of last year's office-bearers, the list for 'his season including tho following:—Patron, Mr. S. V. Buvridge; president, Mr. ]?. E. Flaws; deputy-president, Jfr. ,T. E. MacLachlan; secretary, Jfr. Q. Hogg; treasurer, Mr. E. Hogg. The opening of the aeason was fixed for October 27.
