' At the French Club's meeting on Thursday'night a lecture, was given by Mr iXy on "Personal Keminiscences of india." The capture of these animals is a yoyeinment monopoly, and all the largest of he elephants are kept for the use of the artillery. The surplus, after the Govern, ment renuirements are met, are sold to traders. Mr. Adamson read .la Mort d'un Cigale." Captain Barclay proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Lattey, and this was warmly responded to by those present. Altogether it was a very interesting evening, and the lecture especially was listened to with great attention. • _________^ _
