STATEMENT BY BRITISH FOOD ,CONTROLLER. London, October 10. The Tress Bureau reports: Lord Rhondda (the Food Controller), replying to an agricultural deputation, dealt with a complaint that the fixed prices tor meat are unromunerative to the farmer. He referred to the danger of a world famine of meat iu 1918. If the appeal for voluntary oconomy failed, lie wouitt not hesitate to put the country on compulsory rations. He agreed to postpone the fixing of the lowest maximum price for cattle, hut refused further concessions. The nation was entitled to ask for sacntices from all classes, including the lar-mers.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reutcr.
