AMERICA AND THE WAR
PRESIDENT ASKED TO LEAD UNITY' MOVEMENT New York, October 9. Members of the National Unity League called 011 President Wilson, and asked him to signalise a concerted effort to eliminate the divergent elements in the United States. President Wilson endorsed the purposes of the- league, emphasising the necessity for virile action and American thought to guide general opinion. He pointed out that the war must not end till Germany is beaten and the ideals of democracy triumph. The league comprises the most representative men in all walks of life. —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
