MILITARY SERVICE BOARD
YESTERDAY'S APPEALS. . The Third Wellington Military Service Board sat in the city yesterday. Mr. H. J. Beswick presided, ajid, with him were Messrs. A. O'L. Considine and JI. J. Mack. Captain P. Baldwin represented the military authorities.' Leave was recommended as under for men at present in camp:—Pte. A. J. Bott, C Coy., 32nd Reinforcements, Featherston, 14 daj-s. inr.November; l*te. J. Honnessey/H Coy., 30th Reinforcements, 'Featherston, three months; Pte. Alfred B. Smyth, E Coy., 31st Reinforcements, Tauherenikau, 14 days in December; Pie. G.' E. Williams, F Coy., 30th Reinforcements, Trentham, 14 days in January; Pte. C. H. Elvey, 32nd. Artillery, Featherston, 14 days leave; Cpl. J. H. Hoare, C Coy., 31st Reinforcements, Trentham, three months; Pte. J. P. Kildare, C Coy., 31st Eeinforcements, Featherston, 14 days in November. In the cases of Pte. William P. Old, 29th Eeinforcements, Trentham; Pte. L. G. 'M'Farlano, C Coy., 30th -Reinforcements, Trentham; Pte. F. W.. Barker, A Coy., 30th Reinforcements, Trentham; Lce.-Cpl.E. G. Gilmour, D Coy., SO-.h Reinforcements, Trentham, and Pte. E. Stevens, B Coy., 30th -Eeinforcements, Trentham, the board had no recommendation to make. ■ • .--;■.
The board dismissed the employers' appeal'made on behalf of Eeginald E. Dovey, shipping and Customs clerk, Brooklyn, and recommended the reservist for financial assistance. . - . The appeals of the following reservists .were dismissed, and leave was granted as under:—Leo Alfred ; Morbney, bank accountant, Christchuroh, leave till November 13; William Greening, driver, Brooklyn, leave, till November 20; Albert Jack-. son, school teacher, Wellington, leave till December 12; Frederick J.' Hatcher, carTier, Park Vale Road, Karpri, leave till November 14; H. J. Ackerman', accountant, Wellington, leave, till October 17. The following adjournments.were made: —Ernest Edgar Lane, electrician, Wellington, till, November 8; George S. Stone, slaughterman, Petone, sine die; Charles S. Gaskin, dairy farmer, North ATakara, till December 8; Henry. C. Easniussen, Edmund G. Revington, Stuart A.' Preston, Jaraea J. M'Kegan, Harry P. Griffin, and Norman Bailes (all marine engineers), sine die; Thomas F. H.:King, chief examiner, Public Trust, Wellington, sine din - Thomas P. T. R. Hedges, letter oatrier, Wellington, satisfied the board that he was not a reservist. His appeal was allowed. The board dismissed the appeals of John La Belle Helgesen, chauffeur, Wellington, and Joseph Woods, conductor, Adelaide Eoad. The latter appellant said that he had been discharged from the forces for refusing to be inoculated for the tenth time. He was still suffering from the effects of the inoculations that had been made, and he would.not go away with the Forces again.
