: : ■ YESTERDAY'S CASES. " The Third Wellington Military Service Board sat in the city yesterday. The chairman, Mr.,H. J. Beswick, presided, and with him were-Messrs. A. 0 L. Cnnsidine and M. J. Sine die adjournments were made in tho following cases:—Arthur John Cornish, marine officer; "William M'Cowari ' Menzie, prison warder, Kaingaroa; William J. Blundoll, prison warder, Auckland; William M'Lennan, prison warder, Wellington; Thomas Scott, employed on hospital ship; Patrick Kennedy, permanent brigadesman, Newtown Tire Station; Daniel I. Larson, dairy farmer, Paraparaumu. ■-■ . The board adjourned the ; appeal of Alfred L. Jeffries, firo v l>rigadesman, Newtown, till the first sitting, after October 17... .':. .". No recommendation was made in the case of Corporal H. ft. Hbbart, Trentham Camp, who asked for temporary exemption. Leonard H. Poutawera, clerk, of Ellice Avenue, Wellington, was adjudged to bo a Native within the meaning of tho Act, and therefore not a-reservist. . His appeal was allowed. The appeal of William Alexander, general storekeeper, Mulgravo Street, was dismissed, and appellant was granted leave till November 11. Edward "Henry Webber, porter, Empire Hotol, and Thomas Davies, engineer, College Street, ,had their appeals dismissed. C. H. Maclin's appeal was similarly dealt with, and Myelin was recommended for service with the Medic.il Corps. Leave till January 7 was granted Private W. If. Lastelle. Corporal W. Whittington, of Trentham Camp, was allowed leave till December 12. . The appeal of Ernest Cecil NicholK boot clicker, of! Adclnido -Road, was adjourned to October 9. anil that of Henry John Colson, farmer, Taita. was adjourned for H month. ' =====
