GREAT WAR CRISIS IN THE ARGENTINE
DEPUTIES VOTE FOR BREAK WITH GERMANY REPORTED WAR PLANS ' _ Buenos Aires, September 25. Ihe House of Deputies has voted in favour of a break of relations with Germany by 53 votes to 18. The mobilisation of the forces is ostensibly due to the strike. A high official admitted, however, that the Government is visualising other necessities. The German Notes have not convinced legislators or the public. War plans have been completed and commanders appointed. Argentina will take mi active part in the war if she is forcedi into it, and two divisions will be sent to Europe. Everything is ready except artillery, which the Allies will supply. The strike is practicallv complete. German influence is accentuated.—Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
FAMINE THREATENED. New York, September 25. The United Press correspondent at Buenos Aires reports that the strikers in Argentina number 120,000, and the railways are tied up. Scores of cities are threatened with famine, and the country is paralysed. It is believed that German money is being used to assist in financing the strike. Telegraph lines have been cut, and the direct cable to the TJnite3 States is not working.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
