SOLDIERS' BOXING TOURNEY
Another of the popular boxing tournaments was held at Trentbam Camp last night, the Camp Commandant, Colonel H. R. Potter, C.M.G., being present Ths camp adjutant presided. The lirit evont was an exhibition three two-minute .rounds by Pte. M'Ken--7,i0. list., and Sergt. Kerr, 9st. 61b. An exhibition 'bout was also given by A. O'Neill, 9st. 61b., Thirtieth Reinforeenionts. and Corpl. Alquist, Dst. 61b., Thirty-fifth n.c.o.s. The contests were as under: — Six two-minute rounds for gold medal, Pte. H. Matthews (Mus. Staff), Sst. 61b., v. Corpl. Jenkins (Thirty-fourth n.c.o/s), lOst. After an interesting contest the verdict was given for Matthews. Corpl. Mayes (Thirty-fifth n.e.o.'s), lOst., mot Sapper Prince,(Engineers), 9st. 61b., in six two-minute rounds for a gold medal, Prince winning after tho men had put up an excellent exhibition. Corpl. Morris (Tlurty-fourth Reinforcements) and Corpl. Masefield {Thirtythird I! oinf orcein 011 ts) met in three twomiuute rounds for a gold medal, tho result being a win for Morris. Pto. Cottrell (A Company, Thirtieth) was matched against Sapper Lloyd (Engineers). the latter being adjudged the winner. Lloyd and ■ Morris then met. but the bout had only 2011S one round when Morris sprained his thumb, and had to stop boxing. The verdict thus went to Lloyd. A special exhibition was given bv 11m Tracey and Pte. Desmond, of the Thirtythird Reinforcements. An excellent exhibition of in-fightii-j was givon by Tracey. _________ I
