UPPER HUTT JUVENILE BIIANCH. Tim energetic promoters in the Upper Hiitt District of the Juvenile Branch of the National Keserve have every reasoa to bq satisfied with the success tlio movement has achieved. The enrolment of the juveniles (girls and' boys) 'was initiated by Mr. Angus M'Curdy, the lieutenant commanding tho Upper Hutt Men s I'latoon.. By the last-reports, its total strength had nearly approached 10fl\ names. Tho juveniles have contributed very largely to different patriotic efforts, both in collecting and in mating up ma ; terial for-soldiers' comforts, also by contributing amusement and assistance, in the raising of patriotic funds for vanous objects. The branch is administered by a president and committee jointly and severally appointed by the.W.N. Reserve, the Men's Unit, and the several stantft ards in the public school, representatives of which are a girl and a boy, also representatives of the Juvenile Executive Cpmmittep and elected by their respective standards. The annual subscription is is. The motto of the Juvenile Reserve is "The pest I know how." This has ton well followed out by the ]uvomles; as is ovirtencod by the several reports to hamt of the moneys raised by entertainments, social teas, and other sources, mmpt. ni°- a very fair total contributed to patriotic work. . Mrs. : Corliss (hon. secretary of the W.K. Keserve), 4n her m, foresting and instructive address given at the inception of the juvenile, movement, at rthlch a number of members of the Women's Tteserve was present, proposed, tho motto which now so well describes tho activities of. tho ■juveniles. The district may, well bo satisfied with the good example shown, and the promoters gratified at the excellent results of their efforts. The Upper- Hutt- is at present the only juvenile branch. -formed in the Dominion.
