Tho total' number of bales of hemp gTaded at. the. various ports of the Dominion during August was 12,023, as compared with 10,065 for ins period of last year, an increase of 19C3 bales. Por the twelve months ended August 31, the number of bales graded was 148,837, as compared with 145,2<5l for the previous twelve months, an iu'crease of 606 bales. .During tho month 2846 bales of towwere dealt with, as compared with 31S0 for tlio corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 534 bales. Por the twelve months ended Ausrust 31 tho number of bales (Traded was 36.164, ae compared with 41.183 for the nrevious twelve mouths, a decrease of 5019 bales. During H;e month the number of bales of stripper elips graded was 245, as com. pared with 275 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of thirty bales. Por- the twelvo months ended August 31 the number of bales graded was 3720, as compared with 70SG for fno previous twelve months, a decrease of 3366 bales.
