NATIONAL PROVIDENT FUND
Tho annual report and balance-sheet of the National Provident, Fund presented to Parliament by the Mimslcr-iu-Chargo (Hon. Arthur M. Myons), gives Bomo interesting indications of the progress of tho fund. At the end ot last year there were !)BJ7 contributors, whoso annual incomo to the fund vjpresented an amount of £38,GGi 3s. ii. jho total accumulated fund had during tho year increased by .£39,360 10s. 2d., and tho amount in hand at December 31 was wC122,361 Bs. 7(1. Duriug tho ymr C3i contributors claimed Ihe niaternily allowance provided by the Act, tho eum of ,£3775 17s. Sd. being paid out on tnie account. Thore wero at tho close of the year 2421 contributors on active service, who were in receipt of the concession cf half contributions granted by the Government on their- account, tho cost of which for the year amounted to .£3338 2s lOd. The Minister, in moving that tho Teport bo adopted, Teforred (o tho satisfactory state of tho fund is disclosed in this paper.
