TWO INQUESTS
DROWNED IN THE HARBOUR. Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., held an in-nuc-st yesterday morning concerning; tho death of the man whose body was found floating in the harbour near cue .Junius Wharf steps on Wednesday morning. Alexander Jiansen, a seaman on an oversea vessel, stated that he riiw the •Body floating in the water, and .informed tho chief officer, who communicated witn tne harbour authorities. Henry Wesley Itieiiaids, carrier, stated thru he viewed w bo'dv in'tlio morgue and was convinced that it was that of si seainan named Walter Sarslield, I whom he nad known for several years. Witness further stated that ho had taken Sarsnelds fat to an oversea sailing vessel, «n which be had signed' on. Sarslield was a member ot tho Seamen's Union, single between 4d and 50 years of age, and had .no relations in New Zealand. At this- stage the inquest was adjourned to Saturday morning, SELF-INFLICTED WOUND. Mr D. 6- A. Cooper, S.M., held an iniuost yesterday afternoon concerning the death of Angus Kennedy ri « found dead in the bathroom ot a. bo.iuin"house iti Thornton Quay on Monday •at with a wound on the left arm. It ras disclosed in the evidence .that Knnnedy had boon peculiar in his; conduct foi-two or three-weeks. He appealed to be under the iiuuression i hut the police vero alter him, "and that no might be arrested at any time. Tte seemed to 1)0 very muoh depressed and very dwpondent After hearing tho evidence a vrreturned tfiat deceased came by his death through severing an artery m his loft ann, and. cominittuis the act w'liilo temporarily insane.
