STILL A MYSTERY. ' So far no trace has been found of the party or parties guilty of planting the Tar of gelignite in the yard at the rear of Mr. Ned Perry's shop lft Manners Street. The jar—an owlinarr glassjamjar—oontained.no fower than twenty-one sticks of gelignite, all bound together with string, enough, if properly placed, to shatter the foundations of a large building Gelignite is eccentno m its action. It requires good detonation owing to the inertness of the base (thojearft or othejmatter that may be mixed'with the mtroglycerine to give its consistency). A stick of gelignite may Ma rule be drop- , ped on the pavement without serious consequences, yet it is not 6afe to try it, as the sufficient detonation may occur just at a spot where .it would explode the whole.
