THE LIQUOR BILL
SECOND BEADING NEXT WEEK. Brief reference was made to the Liquor Bill in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon, when Mr. Massejr gave notioe of his intention to introduce this much-discussed measuro. He remarked that he proposed to take the second reading on Tuesday next. He gavo this notification in order that members would not be taken by surprise. " Mr. 'M'Callum: What are the hours fixed?" Mr. Massey (who did not grasp Mr. M'Callum's meaning): "Seven thirty. We will commence at' Beven thirty. (Loud laughter.) Mr. Massey said ho was under the impression that Mr. M'Callum' was referring to the hour when the debate would begin. As to the hotel hours fixed in the Bill he would be able to tell the honourable member in due course. At .the present moment ho was not able to state them.
