At the quarterly Bitting of the Wairarana Licensing Bench, before Mr. L. G. Koid, S.M., all licences were renewed, cxPxcept that of Mr. Meikle of the Grey town Hotel, which was adjourned for two months, pending alterations to tlio build'"lviossrs. Fisher Bros., of ClaroviUc, liavo presented a handsome challenge cup to the Wairarapa and East 'Const P. and A. Society for competition in the prado dairy heifer .classes, and Mr. George- H. Eaton, of Kokotau, lms given a similar trophy for competition in the two-year and three-year milking heifer classes. Mr. W. Tucker, of Carlerton, has also given a cup for competition m Hip home industries section of the enow. Mr. .T. M. Nicholls line been appointed chairman of (ho Carterton District TTirli School Conimittcn, in succession to Mr. ■I. 0. Mooro. who is leaving (he district for Vlinimerlon.
