The following aro the latest quotations for Consols and Colonial Government Securities in comparison with those ruling last week:— ,
MONEY MARKET. The Bank of England discount rate was on January 2. 1914, reduced from 5 to 4J per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., and ou January 28 3 per cent. On July 30 the rate waß raised to 4 per cent., and on July 31 it was raised tc 8 per cent., and on Aueust 1 it was further advanced to 10 per cent. On August 6 the rate waß reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 ner cent., on July 13, 1915. it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 18, 1917, it was reduced to 5J por cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to 6 per cent. OPEN MARKET KATES. • The open market discount rate for thret months' bills at 42 per cent., as comparod with 45 per cent, last week and 58 por cent, last, year. ' Short loans aro quoted at 4} por cent, as against 4J per cent, last, week and 45 per cunt, last year.
