SOUTHERN PRODUCE MARKET
By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, August 31. An odd lot of wheat still comes to hand, and the offerings of oats aro very limited. The Australian supply of oats having been cut off, prices are firmer. Oatsheaf chaff is not offering so freely, and there is a fair demand at late rates. The'potato market is much firmer, owing to the offerings not being very large. Farmers are busy with their spring work now, and the potatoes being in pit, they arc not at present troubling about them. Rales have been made during the last few days at .£3, at country stations, and in one or two cases it is reported that £3 os. has been paid. There is a fair inquiry' from the North Island, and some, fresh business has been done, but' local buyers are also in the market to fill their'fonnvrd contracts.
