SHOULD SYRIANS SERVE?

SUGGESTED THAT MASSACKE MIGHT RESULT THEEEFBOM. By HeleErapa—Press Association. Dunedin, August 29. During the hearing of the appeal of a Syrian before tho Military Service Board to-day, appellant's counsel said appellant considered the fact of the Syrians fighting for tho Allies, on becoming known to Turkey, _ would lead to a massacre of Syrians in Lebanon, whero tho relatives of appellant now resided. He said the Syrians were loyal people, and strongly favoured the Allies, and thought their misgivings should ho respected. The appeal was disniissed, with a recommendation that serious consideration be given to tho fact that the reservist was a Syrian, and that as a question of policy it might be considered whether it would be wise to send a member of that race to the front.
