CKYSTALATB CUP AMATEUE CHAMPIONSHIP. Tho qualifying games for the finals played at Alcock's last night resulted in wins for "Congdon and Stone, who will play fpr championship honours to-night in n bout of 500 points. ■ Tho first' gamo between W- N. Tiiclcer (Federal Club) and H. Stone (Petono Working Men's Club) was evenly contested, and resulted in a verdict for tho latter by tho small margin of 82 points. Tucker was most decidedly off, and did not reproduce anything like his average form. Stonej.too, showed signs of nervousness; still his play was fairly good, and just a..little more consistent, than his opponent. In the game between A J. Congdon (Commercial and Farmers' Club, Mastcrton) and A. "Wakem (Dominion Club) the result vrae- a foregone conclusion, as the Wairarapa representative is .playing well above local form. However, Wakem secured over 100 points against his doughty opponent, which is somewhat better than any other competitor has managed to "do. : The best breaks during the evening were: Congdon, 21, 28, 22, 25, 30. 23 22; Tucker, 25; Stono, 25, 25, 30, 23; Wakem, 21. Tho finals will-start at 7.45 p.m., and the game is 500 points up.
