' ; ,- Tho Canterbury Association was notified that tho Schools match or matches could bo played at Wellington during tho first ■woeK in September. With respect to a match with Maryborough it was decided to lcavo the arrangements in tho hands of tho chairman and secretary, Tho referee of the Wadostown-Instituto game, played last Saturday, complained *f the -unsportsmanlike conduct of the Wadestown 'team, and named ono of tho team as haviug used bad languago towards the referee. Mr. V. Koss, on-behalf of tho Institute, attended at the.request' of tho coramitoe and explained that one of the Institute players failed to turn up on'time, and an eraergeucy player was put on in his place. Before the game had proceeded moro than a few mimiteß the absent player turned up. The Wadestown team objected to tho emergency player being withdrawn, but es that" player had not touched the ball the | rofereo permitted the exchange, which took place after tho game had actually started, but within a few minutes of tho start. Tho referee, Mr. Webster, said the game had been in progress'about five minutes when he was told that a change of players was being made. He stopped the game and mado inquiries from tlio captain of tho team, and also from tho player himself,' and from a spectator as to whether tho hid had taken part in tho garae, ( aml was assured that ho had not. I ho referee also gavo particulars of tho had language used towards him and the unsportsmanlike conduct of somo.of tho players of tho Wadestown team. Tho chairman, • who--was present when, ■tho gamo was played, characterised tho conduct of the Wadestown. players as disgraceful. They wero completely out of-hand. T,\vo other members of the committee who wero also present endorsed tho remarks of the chairman. It was'decided to disqualify ono player until the end of tho season 1918;' and that tho captain of tho team and another player be asked to appear before tho committee at the next moeting. It was also decided to order the match to be replayed. No blame was attached to tho referco. Tha referee of tb • South Wellington I'orirua game, played at : Porirua; complained of the conduct of a supporter of tho former club,..who. rushed on to tho'ground and interfered with an- opposing player at a critical moment. The South Wellington Club sent a deputation to tho committee to explain that the alleged supporter was not known, to the members of the club. A man who was going to Porirua to see a relative asked the captain of the South Wellington Club what teams were playing, and when told said ho would come and 6ee the game. It was probably this person who was referred to by tho referee. The explanation was accepted by the committee. The Karori team sent in a protest in respect to' the Karori-St. David match, on the ground that the referee failed .to' penalise opposing players for off-side play. The referee wrote stating that where he did not penalise.it was because tho offside was unintentional and of no advan- ' tago to the offending team. It was de--1 tided to hold over the matter in order 1 to obtain further information from .the ! referee. • ' , ' The Thorndon Club's protest against ' the Empire Club for playing a player over the age was adjourned for a week for further inquiries. .-The Thorndon Club obtained a copy of the birth certificate of the offending player, who was born at Koclthamptbn, Queensland. 1 GROUNDS AND FIXTURES EOK SATURDAY.
