CLAIM FOR, DAMAGES AS KIiHULT OF MOTOR COLLISION. Mr. Jnstico Hosking and a jury ef twelve lieard a claim by Archibald MicOicgor nnd Ellon Boylo MacGregor for damages totalling £1090. Tho defendant was H. V. Evans, oheraist. of Manners Street.

Mr. E. C. Lovvey appeared for the plaintiffs, and Messr6. T. Young and 11. F. O'Leary for tho defendant.

Mr. Levvey said that tho action arose out of a collision which occurred at Courtenay Place on December 29 last between ft motor-car driven. by tho defendants and a motor-cycle driven by a soldier and also ridden by Mrs. MacGregor. Mrs. llnetlrcgor was knocked down by tho iinpact.and sustained sorious injuries to her head and body. Plaintiffs claimed that the ; occurrence was due to negligence careless, rcclilcSß or unskilful driving'on the part of the defendant. Mrs. MacGregor 'asked, tho Court to award her £5 6s. lor medical expenses, and £1000 as general damages. Iter husband, as ownor of the motorcycle (which was smashed), claimed its value, £85. ■'■■;■ Tho defendant admitted thnt the accident happened, but disclaimed responsibility for it. Ho also allegod&hat tho driver of the motorcycle ,'waa guilty of contributory negligence.
