SHEARERS AND SHEEPOWNERS
\A sitting. of the Conciliation; Council .; Was held yesterday afternoon, attended !- by representatives of the shearers and ■; Hheepownors from different parts of Now Zealand, to consider the shearing rates and conditions to apply during the fortta- •' coming season. The assessors appointed by the parties were':—For, the employers, Messrs. Hugh Morrison (Greytown), W. G. Sherratt (Gisborne), and H. D. Acland (Christchurch); for the workers, • -Messrs. J. Townsend (Wanganui), A. J. ■■■ King (Eangitata Island), and 'E. Eddy ■ (Waimate). Mr. C. Grayndler appeared " as agent for the union, and Messrs. E. '" C' Jack and F. H. Labatt for the employers. Owing to two of the southern as- " sessors, Messrs. King and Eddy, having ■" been unable to reach Wellington in time "; the union applied for, and was granted, ;an adjournment till this morning.
