THE MUDDY CAMP
ABOUT BATHING CONVENIENCES. Tho Minister of Defence '•end to the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon a report from Colonel Hiley with reference to the hot-water shower baths >at Tauherenikau Pour-Section Camp. Colonel Hiley states that a shower bath is provided for every section, with sufficient floor space to' accommodate a few movable plunge baths. In this connection, he says, a JOO-gallou tank is provided for, set upm a brick furnace, which will provide the necessary hot water for tho baths. To instal -hot showers would be both difficult and costly, and the medical authorities have not asked for them. Tho bath-houses for two of tho sections are practically completed, and tho remaining two will be completed enrly next week. The provision of hot baths was an. after-thought, and was not considered in tho original scheme, as tho intention was that the troops at the four-section camp should utilise the hot showers at the Jfeatlierstnn Hutment Camp. It was, however, found by actual experience that the arrangement could not work satisfactorily, principally owing to weather.conditions.
