RESIGNATION NOT WITHDRAWN.. Tho member? of the Efficiency Boar* havo not withdrawn their resignations, which wero tendered to tho Government' last week. They have met tho Prime Minister, but it is understood that they, aro not satisfied with Mr. Masseya' definition of their position and functions. The resignations have, not yei. been accepted formally, but there .seemn to bo no reason to doubt that they wilf., be, the difference of opinion between:, the Commissioners nr.d the Ministers beting too wido to be "bridged. . The Efficiency Commissioners w the> meantime are continuing their worlc. in the event of their resignations beinff accepted, the organisation that they have created will not wholly disappear;) tho Boards of Trustees appointed an over Now Zealand, to deal with the. affairs of enlisted men will remain in existence. The Commissioners reporW on very many of the matters originally referred to them for inquiry are in the hands of tho Ministers.

TRUSTEE BOARDS TO CAREY ON. ( An assurance that there will bo no in.-* , lerruption in the activities of tho boards of trustees which have been formed throughout the Wellington district to administer soldiers' farms and was given by Mr. Thomas Moss (Commi?sioner of tho National Efficiency Board, for the Wellington district)' when ho tfto questioned on tho subject by a Dominion representative on Saturday. Tho trustee board?, Mr. Moss remarked, had. done excellent: work. In somo instance* they wore asking Tor more, and an in.creaso of work would, of course, follow any calling up of tho Second Division, "From past experience and knowing tho. ! class of men that have volunteered for eervico on these boards," added Mr. Moss, "I am sure they will take up anr extra work they may bo asked to do> with tho same enthusiasm as they Have hitherto displayed. Some of them maj have read tho statements appearing in: The Dominion relating to the National Efficiency Board's position ™? Government, and may feel unsettled as to the work they are carrying on under f,he board. It is my intention to send out to each" hoard of trustees a letter which I think will assure theni that their work has been productive o. much good, and that there is still need for increased effort on their part m ttieinterests of our country and soldiers.
