SATURDAY'S RUGBY
ATHLETIC PARK - FIXTURES. • There was a very good attendance at Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon to witness tho weekly Rugby matches played there. Tho weather was fine, and a mco spell of sunshine induced quite a number to spend a couplo of hours in the stand or 011 the bank. The ground was in much better order than it has been for .some time, and- the play was therefore somewhat faster than on several recent Saturdays. WELLINGTON COLLEGE BEATS PETONE. The chief of tho two matches played on tlio Park was that between Wellington College and Petone. The teams were fairly evenly matched, and tho result found them with only a single point separating them. Tho College team won by ten points to nine, but l'etone scored one more try than the winners. Tho scorers for Petone were Thomas. Bowers, and Corner, and all their tries wero unconverted. For College, tries were scored hy Donald and Emerson. Scott converted both trios. UNIVERSITY DEFEATS ORIENTAL. University had a substantial victory over Oriental.; The match was very one-sided, the 'Varsity team winning by 23 points to 3. University's score was made up of no fewer than seven tries and only ono goal. Tho scorers of tries were Lusk, Olmrlcs, Aitken, Smith, Jackson, and Jl'ltae (2). Morton converted ono of t.lio tries. Oriental's only try was stored by Ferguson.
