[Four small sailing vessels were lost last week.] GERMAN RAIDERS IN THE INDIAN OCEAN QUESTION IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. London, August 8. In the House of Commons last night Mr. Houston asked for information as to the German raider Wulf in the Indian Ocean, and others latelv operating in tho Atlantic, of which nothing has recently been heard. Or. T. .T. Macnamara (Seeretarv to tho Admiralty) replied that the Admiralty was not without knowledge of the movements or the fate of these vessels, but. disclosure might bo valuable to the enemy. He especially emphasised the word "fate."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. SAFE CONDUCT FOR HOSPITAL SHIPS MORE ABOUT THE ARRANGEMENT. (Rec. August 0, 10.20 p.m.) London, August 0. Tho "Daily Chronicle" states that it is true that Germany bas agreed to an. arrangement regarding safe-conduct for the Allies' hospital ships, but there lias been no formal agreement with. Entente Powers, who were not actively concerned in the negotiations. King Alfonso originated the negotiations,, which were confined to Madrid and Berlin. "If," says the "Chronicle," "the agreement is made effective the Allies will welcome it, but it is important to remember that the Allies did not initiate the arrangemont. Their attitude remains unaltered—namely, an absolute denial of the alleged misuse of the hospital ships."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
