I The war time profits tax is estimated to yield one million for the two years j covering the period 1915-17.- • x Tho Treasurer, in his Budget statement announced that the Federal receipts for the current year were estimated at..£37,283,832, and the expenditure at .£37.283,832, out of which .£13,109,351 would bo devoted to war purposes from tho revenue. The War Loans raised or to bo raised were estimated at JC70,253,590, and the war expenditure out of loans ,£84',051,230. The total war expenditure, including this year's estimate, was .£212,741.509. War pensions were estimated at c£2,G37,1G8, and repatriation at .£IOOO.OOO. Provision will have to be made for raising .064,065,922 for war purnoses Beyond the taxing of eligiblcs no additional demands will bo made during fte present year.—Press Assn.
