CONSCRIPTION OF RELIGIOUS
PROTESTS THROUGHOUT CATHOLIC ' ARCHDIOCESE.
Throughout the Catholic Archdiocese of Wellington vesterday resolutions were passed by the congregations :n the cb.urch.3s protesting rgainst the conscription of religious. It was pointed out that there is already a great shortage of priests and that the work to be done cannot be coped with. ■■~,' ~ The protest l resolutions referred to both priests and s'larist Brothers. It was said that if the Marist. Brothers were taken away tho Catholic children would have to Tie sent to public schools, a thing for which the Catholic's had for years striven to avoid because of the absence there ol the religious training which the Catholics considered the first essential.
