OBITUARY
MR. DONALD ERASER. The death ig announced of Mr. Donald Fraser, the Well-known sportsman in' the Rangitikei district. The late Mr. Fraser, who was president of the Rangitikei Raccing Club, arrived at Wellington from Scotland in 1835. ,In 1851 ho went to Rangitikei, and ■with the exception of a short time spent on the diggings in Victoria and tn Otago he bns lived ever since at Pukchoe, Bulls, a property purchased by his father in 1851. Mr. Eraser's earliest recollections of racing dated back to the first meetings held on the Petone Beach and on Te Aro Flat, Wellington. Mr. Fraser was interested in racing,all his life, and on occasions had ridden some good races. He was also a great breeder of racing stock. Mr. Fraser used to do some long rides at different times, before the days of the train and on several occasions rode from Wellington to Iris home at Pukehoe, by the old Beach Road from Paekakariki in from 15 to 1G hours, the distance being about 100 miles., Mr. Fraser bred and owned Advance, and about the last horse he rode in a race was the grev (Hymenus in the Ladies' Purse at Rangitikei. He was 83 years of age. .
