MONEY MARKET. The Bank of Enstlaud discount rate was on January 2. 1914, reduced from 5 to 45 per cent., on January 22 it was reduces io 4 per ceut., and on January 28 3 per cent. On July 30 the rate was raised to 4 per cent., and on July 31 it was raised tr. 8 per cent., and on August 1 it was further advanced to 10 ner cent. On August 6 the rate- , was reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 Der cent., on July 13, 1916, it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 5{ per cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to 5 per cent. OPEN MAItKET KATES. The open market diecount rate for three months' bill is 43 per cent., as compared with 45 i>cr cent, last week and 5S »er ceil last year. • . v Short loans aro quoted at 4} per cent, as against 4$ per cent, last week and b per cent, last year.
