"ACT OF THE COWARD"
SOLDIERS WHO GIVE INFORMATION Tn • routine orders recently issued by Jlnjor-Goneral Walker, commanding an Australian Division, the duty of a soldier who mav bo taken prisoner of war is stressed. The order reads: "A captured German official order shows that not only are the German General Staff at <n-ciit pains to examine prisoners with a view to obtaining information of nur dispositions, but also that those efforts have in several cases met with considerable success. The official German report of a detailed examination shows that several men disclosed information of a most valuable nature. It should bo impressed upon all ranks that to betray one's comrades bv giving information to the enemy is the act.of a covjard. No prisoner is compelled to state more than his name and rank, and must firmly refuse to answer any other questions. Tho caotnred document referred to above shows clearly that the enemy respects the silence of the soldier who knows his duty, and despises tho weakness of tbe man who gives awaj military information."
