It was a somewhat roundabout and expensive way of getting a parcel of sugar to boutli London. The 31b. of sugar cost Dd. in New Zealand; the postage was 2s. Old., and tho Customs dub/ (paid by the recipient) was 4d.; total 3s. lid., or more than ' in India, too, peoole have been touched by the thought of relatives in England especially children, being nonshort of sugar; but a Bombay paper points out that the importation of sugar into England on private account is now forbidden.
