RELEASE OF P. C. WEBB
PRISON REGULATIONS CRITICISED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, July 30. Mr. P. C. Webb was ' released this morning. There was no demonstration. Interviewed, Sir. Webb criticised severely the prison regulations for ordinary prisoners. Ho declared that reformative treatment was a farce, and the men on remand were harshly dealt with. He expects to resume his Parliamentary duties on Friday, when he will take the opportunity to discuss tho prison regulations generally. A reception was given him at night at the Trades and Labour Council. Mr. Webb leaves for Greymouth to-morrow.
