SAD GUN ACCIDENT
CHILD X™™^*'^ 1 ™ (Bv Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) Masterton, July 30. •V tragic fatalitv occurred here this afternoon. A little boy, five vears of age, 6on of Mr. Robert Spademan, became possessed of a Winchester rifle in the absence of his mother, and was apparently playing soldiers with several other children when 'the weapon discharged a bullet, which entered the side of a four-year-old girl named Annie Davy, daughter of Mr. Eobert' Davy. The bullet, passing out the other side of the little girl, landed in the leg of a boy named Fred Davy, aged five years. Tho girl instantly collapsed and died shortly afterwards, but the injuries to the boy are not regarded as serious. Ihe father of both victims has been at the front for some months, and is wounded, while a brother has also been wounded on active service. The mother is left with a family of seven children.
