THE SECOND DIVISION
Sir,—Before the Second Division is called upon to serve every single man should bo made to join the ranks. There are hundreds of men turned down for no other reason than having il.it feet, although thoroughly lit in every other respect, and capable of enjoying such games us foothall, tennis, i.ockey, and any such activo sport, holding their own with the best players. Surely it is not right to take married men and leave' these out. At any rate, the married farmer should be left to work his farm. What is going to pay the, cost of this dreadful war? Only our exports. Owing to (he high price of labour, the "go slow" and other labour troubles, we cannot compote with any other country in manufactures. What would Have been the state of • New Zealand during this war but for the farmers? "Who would have found the money for the big wages demanded by the trade unions? I say, "Let the working farmer alone, or the Dominion, will suffer.—l am, etc., TRUTH.
