After the Battle of Jlessines the New Zealanders enjoyed a spell out of the line, during which they held a big sports meeting, lasting for three days. There is much air activity en both sides, including night-flying uid bombing of the back areas. The other night the enemy bombed a hospital, killing and wounding seeeral men. The tremy planes fly lower than formerly; a,:d a few have recently been firing their machineguns into our trenches. The artillery on both sides has been active recently. There have been, terrific bombardments raging along tho various parts of the front, and day and night we listen to the continuous thunder of the guns.
