A NEEDLESS ALARM. There is evidently some alarm as to the possibility of the Government restricting or prohibiting building operas tions in ths country. Mr. Statham asked the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives yesterday whether the Government had any such idea. There, was an impression in the building trade' in. Dunedin that the Government intended to bring in regulations to stop building during the war. Mr. Massey said he supposed the impression had arisen from the fsct that building operations had been practical' ly stopped at Home, but he did not think this would be necessary here. . He believed that a proposal of this kind was (|> conic before the Government, l:ut he would go so far as to say that he did not think the Government would agree to it. (Hear, hear.)
