THE STRANDED BARQUE
PILOT, EXONERATED,
Afer hearing .Captain Dawson (the harbourmaster) last evening, the Harbour Board passed the. following resolution:— ' "That tho board adopts the reports (2V of the harbourmaster'- (Captain, .t. Dawton) re the stranding - 'and refloating of certain barque at Pencarrow (luring the night of Monday, Juno 18, 1917, and 'further, that from the evidence submitted is convinced that the ' opinion formed by tho harbourmaster 'that the pilot did all that any seaman could do after boarding the barque' is justified, and that tho board desires to express its confidence in the pilot • (Captain Spence) as a capable and reliable officer." The chairman (Mr. C. E. Daniell) added that after,hearing of the difficulties that were encountered in connection with bringing the vessel into port and subsequently in getting her off the rocks; they were convinced that all bad been done that could be done, and that in Captain Daiwson and Pilot Spence the /'board bad two worthy and capable officers.
